Reporting to the Manager – Mine Planning, you will oversee the development of medium- and long-term mine plans for underground operations, guide a team of engineers, and ensure alignment with Greatland’s strategic growth vision transforming Telfer into a multi-decade operation through expansion of Telfer underground and Havieron resources.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the underground mine planning function (open pit experience beneficial).
  • Develop and oversee medium- and long-term mine plans, designs, and schedules aligned with business objectives.
  • Provide technical guidance in mine design, sequencing, and life-of-mine planning.
  • Conduct and review reserve estimations in accordance with JORC 2012 principals.
  • Mentor and manage a team of mine planning engineers, ensuring delivery of high-quality technical outputs.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with open pit, geology, operations, processing, safety, and environment teams.
  • Review and approve medium- and long-term technical designs and schedules.
  • Drive process improvements in mine planning systems, tools, and software (Deswik required).
  • Monitor plan execution, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare and manage annual and quarterly planning budgets and schedules.
  • Communicate regularly with senior leadership on progress, risks, and strategic opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

 

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
  • Recognised Competent Person under JORC 2012.
  • 10+ years’ experience in underground mine planning (open pit experience advantageous).
  • Previous experience at a Principal or Superintendent level.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in Deswik software essential.
