The Role

 

We are searching for a motivated and safety focused Electrical Technician to be a part of the Utilities team at Telfer. This is a full time FIFO role from Perth on a 8 days on 6 days off roster. 

 

The Electrical Technician will be expected to follow site procedures, isolation requirements, risk assessment processes and relevant electrical standards while actively contributing to a positive safety culture. This role will report into the Utilities Electrical Supervisor and will support the safety, reliable operation, maintenance, and longer-term integrity of various assets including: 

 

  • Site wide HV power distribution switching and maintenance
  • Site wide water extraction including bore fields
  • Electrical maintenance on our generator fleet
  • Laboratory instrumentation maintenance
  • Vehicle wash down facilities, including oily water separators and pumps
  • Sewage facilities
  • Dump leach maintenance
  • Statutory electrical testing and building maintenance.

 

Other accountabilities of the role include:

  • Maintain high standards of performance and adopt a proactive approach to occupational health and safety issues
  • Monitoring and reporting on status of electrical plant and equipment
  • Ensure all work electrical work complies with AS/NZ3000, WAER, WHSA 2020, WHSR 2022 & Telfer Electrical Safety Management Plan: 700-671-SA-PLA-0001
  • Ensure compliance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 and the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022. 
  • Maintain good working relationships with superiors, peers, subordinates and all internal as well as external clients, such as contractors, suppliers, and service providers

 

About You

You will be a safety-focused and reliable tradesperson with strong fault-finding skills and experience working in an utilities maintenance environment. You will be comfortable working in a team, communicating with supervisors and village personnel, and taking ownership of work from planning through to completion. Additionally you will have:

  • A grade Electrical Licence
  • Post trade experience with extensive exposure to large scale mining with Utility or Process plant operations & maintenance.
  • Experience in high voltage maintenance, reading drawings & completing switching programs.
  • Competent computer skills – proficient in SAP or similar computerized maintenance management system and Microsoft package           
  • Demonstrated track record in continuous improvement of assets
  • Preparedness to accept change and develop new skills and competencies
  • Senior First Aid ticket
  • LV rescue/CPR ticket
  • HV Switching ticket
  • Cert IV Instrumentation
