About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Technician to join our Surface Maintenance team at Telfer. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and improving electrical, power, control and instrumentation assets across the processing plant to support safe, reliable and efficient operations.
The successful candidate will carry out preventative and corrective maintenance on a range of fixed plant equipment, including motors, MCCs, VSDs, electrical reticulation, lighting systems, instrumentation, control valves, analysers and process control equipment.
The role also supports shutdown activities, maintenance planning, work order feedback, documentation, and continuous improvement across electrical and instrumentation systems. A strong commitment to safety is essential. The Electrical Technician will be expected to follow site procedures, isolation requirements, risk assessment processes and relevant electrical standards while actively contributing to a positive safety culture.
Please note: This is a full-time opportunity on 8/6 7/7 roster, FIFO from Perth
Key Responsibilities
- Maintaining, fault-finding and repairing electrical and instrumentation equipment across the processing plant.
- Completing preventative and corrective maintenance work in line with SAP/CMMS requirements.
- Supporting shutdowns, work scope preparation, planning and execution.
- Maintaining accurate records, including work order feedback, calibration records, logbooks and statutory documentation.
- Supporting Management of Change processes for electrical and control system modifications.
- Working closely with maintenance, operations and engineering teams to manage priorities and minimise plant downtime.
- Providing support, guidance and technical knowledge to apprentices and peers where required.
About You
You will be a safety-focused and reliable tradesperson with strong fault-finding skills and experience working in a fixed plant maintenance environment. You will be comfortable working in a team, communicating with supervisors and control room personnel, and taking ownership of work from planning through to completion.
Essential requirements
- A Grade Electrical Licence.
- Senior First Aid.
- LV Rescue / CPR.
- Working at Heights.
- Confined Space.
- Ability to read and interpret schematic drawings.
- Minimum 3 years post-trade maintenance experience, preferably within a large scale mining or processing plant environment.
Desirable requirements
- HV Switching qualification.
- EWP ticket.
- Certificate III or IV in Instrumentation.
- SAP or similar maintenance management system experience.
