About the Role
The Telfer Electrical Engineer role provides support across site to our different maintenance teams. Supporting the Mill Maintenance (processing plant), Utilities (HV distribution), and Underground (crushing and hoisting) teams provides a range of unique and interesting challenges. We’re looking for a great communicator and solid engineer that is ready to help keep a world class operation running safely, efficiently, and reliably.
Please note: This role is full time on a 8/6 FIFO roster. Additional coverage may be required during our shutdowns which occur 3 times per year.
As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Supporting the Senior Electrical Engineer in keeping site operations running smoothly
- Review and approve electrical designs, reports, and drawings with confidence
- Identify and manage reliability risks before they become real problems
- Lead investigations into breakdowns and deliver meaningful root cause analysis
- Provide expert advice on electrical safety, compliance, and engineering standards
- Deliver practical, cost-effective solutions that actually work in the field
- Maintain our drive & relay parameter file database, ensuring backups stay current and accessible
- Drive improvements through fault finding, failure analysis, and innovative thinking
- Develop scopes of work and repair strategies that get results
- Support shutdowns and keep critical work on track
- Review condition monitoring reports and turn insights into action
About You
- Electrical Engineering degree (recognised by Engineers Australia)
- Solid understanding of Australian standards and legislation
- Experience in mineral processing (design and/or operations)
- C Class Driver’s Licence
About Telfer Operations
Telfer is a long-life gold-copper mine in the Paterson Province of Western Australia’s East Pilbara region. The operation includes both open-pit and underground mining and Australia’s third-largest gold-copper processing facility. Since commencing production in 1975, Telfer has produced over 15 million ounces of gold. The site operates on a fly-in fly-out basis and offers a wide range of onsite recreational facilities to support workforce wellbeing.
