The Program:
Greatland are seeking applications to join our Graduate program, commencing February 2027.
The Graduate Program provides exposure to multiple areas of the business and offers opportunities for ongoing development, mentoring and coaching. Designed to support your transition from study into industry, the program combines practical experience with structured learning to help you build the skills, knowledge and capabilities needed for a successful career.
The Role:
We currently have vacancies for graduate roles in our Open Pit and Underground Geology teams. Please ensure your Cover Letter outlines which environment you want to be considered for.
As a Geology Graduate, you will join either the Open Pit or Underground Geology team at Telfer and gain valuable hands-on experience while supporting the delivery of business objectives. You will work collaboratively with experienced professionals across the organisation, contribute to projects and operational activities, and participate in learning and development opportunities that support your professional growth.
This position is offered on a 2-year fixed term full-time basis, on an 8/6 roster FIFO from Perth.
As our Geology Graduate your responsibilities will include:
- Contribute to day-to-day team activities and deliver work to the required standard and timeframe.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and actively contribute to a positive safety culture.
- Build effective working relationships with team members and stakeholders across the business.
- Participate in projects, operational activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Take ownership of your learning and development, including maintaining your Graduate Portfolio and completing agreed development goals.
- Apply analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to support business outcomes.
- Proactively identify, communicate and escalate risks, challenges and issues where required.
- Work collaboratively across teams and adapt to changing business needs and priorities.
- Provide contributions to the analysis, interpretation and modelling of mineralisation, lithology, structure and alterations, in aid of preparation of quality grade control models.
- Maintain accurate geological records and ensure proper documentation of all geological findings.
- Actively complete mapping and sampling where required, to improve the understanding of the controls on mineralisation.
About You:
You are a recent graduate who is eager to apply your knowledge in a practical mining environment. You have a positive attitude, a strong commitment to safety and a genuine willingness to learn. You are motivated to develop your skills, build meaningful relationships and contribute to the success of the business while establishing your professional career.
Additionally, you will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology (or equivalent)
- Manual C class driver licence
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Well-developed organisational and time management abilities.
- Developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate information and contribute practical solutions
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also demonstrating initiative and the ability to work independently when required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent business applications.
- Developed skills in adapting to changing priorities, environments, and business needs while maintaining a positive and proactive approach
- Familiarity with assay QAQC systems, laboratory audits (Desirable)
- Knowledge of industry-specific software or systems, such as Leapfrog, acQuire and Vulcan (desirable)
- Previous relevant experience gained through internship, vacation or other (desirable)
About Telfer Operations
Telfer is a long-life gold-copper mine in the Paterson Province of Western Australia’s East Pilbara region. The operation includes both open-pit and underground mining and Australia’s third-largest gold-copper processing facility. Since commencing production in 1975, Telfer has produced over 15 million ounces of gold. The site operates on a fly-in fly-out basis and offers a wide range of onsite recreational facilities to support workforce wellbeing.
