About the Role

Reporting to the Planning Superintendent, you will be responsible for the planning and scheduling of major maintenance activities across the operation. Working closely with maintenance, operations, engineering, and contracting teams, you will develop detailed maintenance plans, coordinate resources, and create achievable schedules that maximise asset reliability and minimise downtime.

 

Please note: This role is on an 8/6 Roster FIFO from Perth!

 

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and schedule major maintenance activities in accordance with the Maintenance Business Process (MBP).
  • Develop detailed work packs including labour, materials, tooling, permits, and job instructions.
  • Manage maintenance backlog, forward work plans, and rolling forecasts to ensure business targets are achieved.
  • Coordinate maintenance resources and create safe, achievable schedules that maximise asset reliability and operational performance.
  • Prioritise critical, statutory, safety-related, and high-risk maintenance work to minimise operational risk.
  • Plan and schedule major maintenance and Safety Improvement Modification (SIM) tasks using approved engineering scopes of work.
  • Monitor maintenance KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives across planning and scheduling processes.
  •  Conduct field inspections and verifications to improve job quality, planning effectiveness, and CMMS data accuracy.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving and efficiency improvement opportunities.
  • Build strong working relationships with maintenance, operations, engineering, and contractor stakeholders to ensure successful work execution.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through visible leadership, compliance, and active participation in site safety initiatives.
  • Coach and support teams in the application of maintenance planning, scheduling, and work management best practices.

  • Demonstrated experience in maintenance planning and scheduling within a mining, processing, heavy industry, or fixed plant environment.
  • Strong SAP maintenance planning experience.
  • Experience using Microsoft Project.
  • Solid understanding of fixed plant maintenance strategies and work management processes.
  • Project management experience.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and organisational skills.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement.

 

About Telfer Operations
Telfer is a long-life gold-copper mine in the Paterson Province of Western Australia’s East Pilbara region. The operation includes both open-pit and underground mining and Australia’s third-largest gold-copper processing facility. Since commencing production in 1975, Telfer has produced over 15 million ounces of gold. The site operates on a fly-in fly-out basis and offers a wide range of onsite recreational facilities to support workforce wellbeing.
