About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Mechanical Technician to join our Surface Maintenance team at Telfer. This role is responsible for carrying out scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of fixed plant equipment, ensuring operations are safe, reliable, and aligned with company values, environmental standards, and statutory requirements.
Roster: 8/6 7/7 – FIFO from Perth
Key Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on surface fixed plant equipment safely and efficiently.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and report hazards promptly to maintain a safe work environment.
- Demonstrate full compliance with company Values, Code of Conduct, and all internal and external regulatory requirements.
- Execute preventive maintenance activities to required quality standards and within planned timeframes.
- Identify and report equipment and component failures using work requests to support continuous improvement.
- Complete risk assessments (JSEA/SWP) for assigned tasks prior to commencing work.
- Lead small teams or specific jobs when required, ensuring work is completed safely and effectively.
- Maintain accurate work orders in SAP, including opening, closing, and recording detailed maintenance history.
About You
- Trade-qualified Mechanical Technician with minimum 3 years’ mining experience
- Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and plant performance
- Experienced in maintaining and troubleshooting fixed plant equipment (pumps, conveyors, crushing, milling and processing circuits)
- Competent across plant areas with the ability to complete PMs and manage SAP work orders
- Holds essential tickets and certifications including:
- Current Driver’s Licence (HR preferred)
- Working at Heights
- Confined Space
- Forklift and Telehandler
- Dogging HRW
About Telfer Operations
Telfer is a long-life gold-copper mine in the Paterson Province of Western Australia’s East Pilbara region. The operation includes both open-pit and underground mining and Australia’s third-largest gold-copper processing facility. Since commencing production in 1975, Telfer has produced over 15 million ounces of gold. The site operates on a fly-in fly-out basis and offers a wide range of onsite recreational facilities to support workforce wellbeing.
