About the Role

Greatland is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Underground Mine Surveyor to join our Technical Services team at the Telfer Mine. This is a key role supporting underground production and development by providing accurate, timely survey control, and ensuring statutory compliance through diligent maintenance of mine records and plans.

As a Mine Surveyor, you’ll play an essential part in ensuring safe, efficient operations across our underground site. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals and be supported in your technical growth within a company committed to safety, integrity, and environmental responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote a proactive safety culture by complying with Greatland’s Safety Policies and statutory regulations.
  • Identify and report hazards, incidents, and accidents in accordance with company procedures.
  • Support the underground team through the establishment and maintenance of survey control stations.
  • Provide accurate set-outs for drilling activities including production rings and exploration holes.
  • Assist in updating and compiling mine plans, survey memos, and as-built documentation.
  • Conduct end-of-month surveys and volume calculations for development headings and stopes.
  • Maintain and calibrate survey equipment to ensure optimal performance.

About You:

You are a motivated Surveyor keen to make an impact. You enjoy working across multidisciplinary teams and are motivated by the opportunity to improve mine performance and identify new mining opportunities. Additionally you will have:

  • Advanced Diploma of Surveying or Bachelor of Applied Science (Surveying).
  • At least 1-2 years mining experience, those with experience in other Surveying disciplines should be encouraged to apply.
  • Current WA “C” Class Driver’s Licence.
  • Proven experience in underground mine surveying.
  • Proficient in using modern survey equipment (e.g. Leica Total Stations, CMS, scanners, drones).
  • Skilled with Surpac and Deswik, plus strong spreadsheet and report-writing capabilities.
  • Sound understanding of relevant WA mining legislation and regulations.
  • Works well independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Detail-focused with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills across all levels of the organisation.
  • Committed to safety, learning, and continuous improvement.

Desirable:

  • Grade 1 Mine Surveyor’s Certificate of Competency (WA DMIRS) or working towards.
  • St John’s Senior First Aid Certificate.

Telfer is a long-life gold-copper mine in the Paterson Province of Western Australia’s East Pilbara region. The operation includes both open-pit and underground mining and Australia’s third-largest gold-copper processing facility.
