About Telfer Operations
Telfer is a gold-copper mine located in the Paterson Province of the East Pilbara region of Western Australia. It includes both open-pit and underground mining operations, as well as the operation of Australia’s third- largest gold-copper processing facility. Since beginning gold production in 1975, Telfer has produced more than 15Moz of gold to date.
Our Telfer operations offer a fly-in fly-out work arrangement, providing our workforce with a healthy work- life balance. Onsite, we offer a broad range of recreational activities, including a recently refurbished gym, swimming pool, driving range, movie room, and both dry and wet mess facilities.
In addition to Telfer, Greatland owns 100% of the Havieron gold-copper, a world class development project with a multi-decade mine life, located 45km west of Telfer that will utilise the existing Telfer infrastructure to process Havieron ore, together with a significant exploration portfolio in the region surrounding Telfer.
About the Role
Ensure safe, reliable and effective operation & maintenance of technology systems utilised within the mobile mining fleet. This includes:
- The Open Pit fleet management system (Modular Dispatch)
- Automated fatigue monitoring system (CAT Driver Safety System)
- SAOC Dispatch Terminals
- Troubleshoot and diagnosis of the Operational Technology wireless network.
- Maintenance of procedures relating to the communications and mining system technologies
- Providing guidance and advanced troubleshooting support to the Fleet Management System (FMS) technicians.
- Maintenance of production data reporting to both Greatland & external parties
- Radio System and Hardware maintenance – Including communication towers and trailers
- Conduct day to day maintenance, troubleshooting and continuous improvement of the communications technology systems and its network.
- Subject Matter Expert in the administration of the open pit mining fleet management system (Modular Mining’s DISPATCH).
Please note: This role will be full time, 8 days on 6 days off Roster - FIFO from Perth.
Your Responsibilities will include:
- Utilise domain knowledge to assist in Root Cause Analysis, process improvement and post incident investigations.
- Ensure statutory systems are maintained, audited and treated according to the relevant legislation.
- Ensure compliance with change management procedures with registers kept up to date and audited regularly;
- Execute routine preventative maintenance, checks, audits and calibrations to maintain the integrity of both hardware & software components of fleet technology systems.
- Conduct performance evaluations to identify operational limitations and initiate steps to enhance system performance;
- Maintain site master versions for configuration files and settings and make these available to authorised FMS technicians to program on Greatland’s behalf.
- Facilitate root cause investigations through the provision recorded of voice, SELCALL and GPS positional data.
- Provide technical guidance on the integration of new systems with existing site infrastructure.
- Identify & execute minor improvement projects
About You

Minimum 5 years experience within an open pit mining operations

- High proficiency in computer literacy and MS Programs
- High proficiency in SAP , Rajant, Cambium Software
- Experienced in the use of
- IP, FSK, FHSS & TDMA data communications systems
- Open Pit Mining terminology
- Wireless network administration and deployment
- Windows, linux and embedded system administration
- SQL database administration
- Communications equipment installation standards
