About the Role

As a Project Mine Geologist, you will play a critical role in maximising ore grade delivered to the processing plant through accurate ore tracking, reporting, and grade control execution. Your expertise will enhance resource value, support the discovery and development of future ore bodies, and contribute to extending the Life of Mine.

 

Please note: This role is full time on 8/6 FIFO Roster from Perth

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver effective grade control processes to optimise ore recovery and minimise dilution.
  • Design and execute grade control programs to ensure timely and accurate geological data collection.
  • Coordinate sampling activities
  • Design  & executework programs to improve geological understanding.
  • Maintain up to date geological models that facilitate efficient mining .
  • Perform reconciliation of ore blocks and blast benches to drive performance and compliance.
  • Maintain data integrity through rigorous QA/QC checks and resolution of discrepancies.
  • Contribute to mine planning reviews by identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Analyse and interpret geological data to develop robust models of mineralisation and structure.
  • Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to graduate geologists and technicians.
  • Support mining operations with timely geological advice and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards through active participation in safety systems and audits.
  • Deliver accurate reports and maintain comprehensive geological documentation.

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in mining geology (gold experience preferred).
  • Strong background in mining operations.
  • Experience with geological modelling and software such as Vulcan, Datamine, Leapfrog, or acQuire.
  • Solid understanding of geological interpretation and wireframing.
  • Current, unrestricted WA “C” Class Driver’s Licence.

 

About Telfer Operations
Telfer is a long-life gold-copper mine in the Paterson Province of Western Australia’s East Pilbara region. The operation includes both open-pit and underground mining and Australia’s third-largest gold-copper processing facility. Since commencing production in 1975, Telfer has produced over 15 million ounces of gold. The site operates on a fly-in fly-out basis and offers a wide range of onsite recreational facilities to support workforce wellbeing.
