About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Project Geologist – Resource Development to join our team at Telfer. In this key leadership role, you will drive the technical aspects of the onsite resource definition, and mine development drilling programs, ensuring quality data is collected, value is maximised and geological models produced are at a high level. 

 

This role will be a lead member of the team that is in charge of modernising the near mine exploration, challenging previous geological concepts and with a little luck delivering ongoing Resource growth at one of Australia’s most iconic deposits for years to come.

 

What You’ll Be Responsible For

You’ll play a pivotal role in both technical delivery and team leadership, including:

  • Leading interpretation of drilling results using 3D modelling software (e.g. Leapfrog, Micromine)
  • Assist with underground and surface drilling programs management ensuring safe, efficient and cost-effective execution of drilling programs
  • Reviewing and validating geological interpretations in line with deposit-scale models
  • Mentoring and developing Project and Graduate Geologists
  • Establishing and maintaining high standards for logging, sampling and QAQC processes
  • Ensuring high-quality geological data capture, validation and governance within systems such as acQuire
  • Delivering clear technical reporting and contributing to resource estimation workflows

Safety Leadership

As a statutory supervisor, you will lead by example in fostering a strong safety culture, ensuring all activities are conducted in accordance with WHS regulations, company systems and best practice. You will actively manage risk, ensure team competency, and intervene where necessary to maintain a safe working environment.

 

About You

You are a technically strong and proactive geologist with a passion for resource development and team leadership. You bring:

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Earth Sciences
  • WHS Risk Management certification (or ability to obtain)
  • 7+ years’ experience in resource development or exploration geology
  • Strong capability in geological modelling and software (Leapfrog, Vulcan, Micromine, acQuire)
  • Proven experience delivering resource definition drilling programs
  • Solid understanding of QAQC, sampling theory and geological logging
  • Experience with copper-gold mineralisation systems

Desirable:

  • Experience contributing to mineral resource estimates
  • Demonstrated mentoring or leadership experience
  • First Aid certification
  • Valid manual driver’s licence
