About Telfer Operations
Telfer is a gold-copper mine located in the Paterson Province of the East Pilbara region of Western Australia. It includes both open-pit and underground mining operations, as well as the operation of Australia’s third-largest gold-copper processing facility. Since beginning gold production in 1975, Telfer has produced more than 15Moz of gold to date.
Our Telfer operations offer a fly-in fly-out work arrangement, providing our workforce with a healthy work-life balance. Onsite, we offer a broad range of recreational activities, including a recently refurbished gym, swimming pool, driving range, movie room, and both dry and wet mess facilities.
In addition to Telfer, Greatland owns 100% of the Havieron gold-copper, a world class development project with a multi-decade mine life, located 45km east of Telfer that will utilise the existing Telfer infrastructure to process Havieron ore, together with a significant exploration portfolio in the region surrounding Telfer.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and driven Superintendent to lead our on-site Resource Development team on an 8/6 Roster, FIFO from Perth. This role is a critical leadership position responsible for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of brownfields drilling programs and high-quality geological datasets that directly support life-of-mine planning and long-term value generation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of geologists, technicians, and contractors.
- Set and uphold expectations around safety, technical performance, and behaviours.
- Build a high-performance team culture focused on innovation and collaboration.
- Drive visible safety leadership and accountability within your team and contractors.
- Oversee the collection, validation, and QAQC of all geological data.
- Ensure data is accurate, timely, and supports robust modelling and mine planning.
- Collaborate with Resource and Mine Geology teams to ensure geological consistency.
- Plan and manage brownfields drilling programs from end to end, ensuring programs are delivered on schedule.
- Monitor expenditure, track progress, and deliver accurate forecasting.
- Ensure drilling outcomes align with broader operational strategies.
- Maintain and improve technical standards in logging, sampling, and data management.
- Identify and implement new technologies and workflows that enhance safety and geological understanding.
About You
We are searching for seasoned professional with a strong track record of leading drilling programs and geological teams in a mining environment. They are an influential safety leader, a technical specialist and an effective communicator who thrives on collaboration and continuous improvement.
Other requirements include:
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or related field (Postgrad preferred)
- 10+ years’ experience in resource development, mine geology, or exploration
- Proven leadership in safely managing drilling programs and teams
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder coordination skills
- Expertise in geological data validation, QAQC, and interpretation
- Familiarity with software such as Leapfrog and Acquire
- Strong understanding of HSE systems and risk management
