About the Role

As a Training Advisor, you’ll be responsible for delivering, assessing, and continuously improving training initiatives across our site. You'll work closely with Supervisors, the Training Coordinator, and various stakeholders to ensure our workforce including contractors operates safely, efficiently, and in alignment with Greatland’s values and standards.

You will have the opportunity to shape training programs from the ground up and contribute to building a strong, safety-first culture at Telfer.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Focus

  • Manage training programs and projects in line with business needs.
  • Conduct training needs analysis at the operator level, with a focus on safety and productivity.
  • Collaborate on departmental training plans and ensure document control protocols are followed.
  • Assist in the design and development of engaging and effective training content.
  • Maintain and update training records using the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Perform training audits and evaluate the effectiveness of programs.
  • Conduct Verifications of Competency (VOCs) on equipment in operational areas.

Safety and Compliance

  • Champion a strong safety culture by integrating health and safety principles into all training initiatives.
  • Conduct Field Compliance Checks and support continuous improvement of safety practices.
  • Work closely with contractors to ensure alignment with Greatland’s safety standards.

Behavioural and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and external training providers.
  • Audit contractor training documentation for compliance.
  • Provide strategic feedback on training efficiency and effectiveness to the Training Coordinator.

About You

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or later) or equivalent Diploma.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in training delivery and assessment.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in mining or a related industry.
  • Strong understanding of safety systems and legislative frameworks.
  • WA Manual Driver’s Licence and relevant mobile equipment qualifications.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and organisational skills.

Desirable

  • Background in Process Plant Operations or trade qualifications.
  • High Risk Work Licences and experience with safe work systems (e.g. Permit to Work).
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of WA WHS Act (2020) and Regulations (2022 – Mines).
