About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Technology Officer – Communications & Mining Systems to support the operation and maintenance of critical operational technology across the Telfer and Havieron mining projects.

This role plays a key part in ensuring the reliability, performance, and safety of communications and mining systems within a dynamic mining and processing environment. Working on an 8/6 FIFO roster, you will contribute to safe, efficient operations by maintaining and improving essential technology infrastructure.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain communication systems including radios, fleet management systems, driver safety systems, and wireless networks
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot communications infrastructure such as repeaters, fibre optics, Wi-Fi, CCTV, and safety systems
  • Monitor system performance, identify improvement opportunities, and implement enhancements
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and asset registers, including handovers and compliance requirements
  • Manage and resolve service tickets in line with SLAs
  • Support system upgrades, configuration, and integration of new technologies
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert in radio systems, fleet management systems, and site operational technology
  • Provide technical support and training to technicians and stakeholders
  • Assist in the delivery of communications and technology projects, including preventative maintenance planning
  •  Ensure reliable connectivity to support operations, safety, and emergency response

About You

You are a proactive and technically capable professional with strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset. You thrive in operational environments and are passionate about delivering reliable, high-performing technology solutions. Additionally you will have:

 

  •  Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Strong experience with communications systems, including analog and digital radio technologies
  • Working knowledge of networking
  • Proficiency with systems such as Modular ProVision, MineMage, MOTOTRBO, TRBOnet, and Rajant
  • Experience with IP-based communications systems (FSK, FHSS, TDMA)
  • Familiarity with asset management tools, SCCM, and remote configuration tools
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis and produce technical reports
  • Strong documentation and stakeholder engagement skills

 

About Telfer Operations


Telfer is a long-life gold-copper mine in the Paterson Province of Western Australia’s East Pilbara region. The operation includes both open-pit and underground mining and Australia’s third-largest gold-copper processing facility. Since commencing production in 1975, Telfer has produced over 15 million ounces of gold. The site operates on a fly-in fly-out basis and offers a wide range of onsite recreational facilities to support workforce wellbeing.
