About Telfer & Haveiron Project

Telfer is a gold-copper mine located in the Paterson Province of the East Pilbara region of Western Australia. It includes both open-pit and underground mining operations, as well as the operation of Australia’s third-largest gold-copper processing facility. Since beginning gold production in 1975, Telfer has produced more than 15Moz of gold to date.

Our Telfer operations offer a fly-in fly-out work arrangement, providing our workforce with a healthy work-life balance. Onsite, we offer a broad range of recreational activities, including a recently refurbished gym, swimming pool, driving range, movie room, and both dry and wet mess facilities.

Greatland also owns 100% of the Havieron gold-copper, a world class development project with a multi-decade mine life, located 45km east of Telfer that will utilise the existing Telfer infrastructure to process Havieron ore, together with a significant exploration portfolio in the region surrounding Telfer. 

About the Role

We’re on the lookout for a sharp, safety-focused, technically skilled Underground Mining Superintendent to join our growing Greatland team. If you know your way around a mine plan, can lead a team, and hold a WA First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate, this one’s for you!

Please note: This is a perm role on an 8/6 B2B roster – FIFO from Perth.

Key responsibilities:

• Foster a proactive, safety-first culture aligned with Greatland’s Safety Management System.
• Provide appropriate tools, resources, and supervision for safe task execution.
• Conduct regular inspections, audits, and field leadership engagements.
• Ensure all team members (Greatland and contractors) are properly trained and supported.
• Ensure full compliance with WHS and other applicable regulations.
• Lead operational planning and execution to meet underground production targets.
• Report on and analyse performance metrics.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on value creation and cost efficiency.

• Oversee contractor performance, ensuring alignment with Greatland’s standards.
• Uphold the highest standards of professional conduct and transparency.
• Promote strong cross-departmental collaboration and alignment with Company goals.
• Build a unified, team-based culture across site personnel and contractors.

In addition to these attributes, the ideal candidate should have:

• Hold a WA First Class Manager’s Certificate (Mandatory)
• Have a strong underground planning background
• Be technically proficient in mining various types (width and orientation) orebodies
• Able to communicate effectively with junior engineers, other technical services department (geology and geotechnical), support services including underground fixed plant maintenance teams, mill / metallurgy teams, other department superintendents and managers
• operations teams including operators, shift bosses and foremen
• Technically proficient in scheduling and drill and blast
• Highly proficient Deswik user
