About the Program:

Our paid Vacation Student Program is designed for students in their penultimate or final year of study who are eager to gain practical industry experience, ask questions, and make the most of their summer break.

As a Vacation Student, you will work alongside experienced professionals, participate in site activities, and contribute to meaningful work that supports our operation.

Life on site is fast-paced and rewarding, so you'll need to be ready for early starts, long days, and a hands-on learning experience. Think 4:00am wake-ups, steel-cap boots, site buses, and plenty of opportunities to learn and grow. If that sounds exciting rather than intimidating, we'd love to hear from you.

We currently have two Vacation Student opportunities available within our Surveying team, with placements in either our Open Pit or Underground operations. These positions are open only to students currently studying Surveying.

If you only want to be considered for either the Open Pit or Underground position, please specify this in your application. Candidates who do not indicate a preference will be considered for both opportunities.

 

Program Details:

  • Duration: early December 2026 – mid February 2027.
  • Roster:  Students will generally fly to site on Tuesday evening and fly home the following Thursday morning. Working 8 days of 12-hour shifts in their student role, with a half day either side for travel.
  • Location: FIFO from Perth to Telfer Operations (roughly a 2-hour flight each way)
  • Applicants must be available to participate across the full program period, including public holidays over the Christmas and New Year period.
  • Successful candidates must complete a full medical assessment, provide evidence of full Australian work rights, hold an Australian manual driver licence, and be able to apply for a Police Clearance.

About Telfer Operations:
Telfer is a long-life gold-copper mine in the Paterson Province of Western Australia’s East Pilbara region. The operation includes both open-pit and underground mining and Australia’s third-largest gold-copper processing facility. Since commencing production in 1975, Telfer has produced over 15 million ounces of gold. The site operates on a fly-in fly-out basis and offers a wide range of onsite recreational facilities to support workforce wellbeing.
